Is there a patient assistance program available for PrEP medication?
Currently, there is no patient assistance program available to help cover the cost of a prescription.
How much does Truvada cost if I do not have insurance?
Patients who are uninsured will be responsible for the cost of the medication.
For reference, Avita Pharmacy charges approximately $28–$30 for a 30-day supply of Truvada. Prices may vary by pharmacy.
Can minors receive PrEP services at HHD clinics?
At this time, clients under 18 years of age are not being seen in HHD clinics for PrEP services.
Can pregnant women receive PrEP services at HHD clinics?
Currently, pregnant women are not being seen in HHD clinics for PrEP services.
Major global health organizations, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) fully endorse and recommend the use of daily oral PrEP during pregnancy for individuals at substantial risk of acquiring HIV.
