Free College Fairs To Help Youths Explore Higher Education, Career Options

Houston teens and young adults wanting to explore higher education and career options can receive one-on-one help at an upcoming series of free, bilingual college fairs.

The fairs will feature prizes, light refreshments, music and child care while participants complete applications. Fairs will continue through May 2017.

My Brother’s Keeper (MBK), an initiative that seeks to improve the lives of boys and young men of color, and a wide range of local organizations are organizing the fairs.

MBK is a national initiative. The Houston Health Department launched and leads the local MBK efforts to ensure academic success, employment and safety from violet crime for boys and young men of color.

College fair sponsors include Houston Community College, the City of Houston, University of Houston, Houston Independent School District (HISD), HISD Family Learning Academy, Workforce Solutions, SER Jobs for Progress, Lone Star College, Bank on Houston, PrimeWay Federal Credit Union, Project Grad, Texas Southern University, University of Houston-Downtown, Metro, One Jump and the Houston Health Department.
