HDHHS Bureau of Vital Statistics extends business hours on Thursday

Birth certificates for people born in Houston and other cities in Texas are available at HDHHS’ Bureau of Vital Statistics, 8000 N. Stadium Drive.

HDHHS will also file acknowledgments of paternity with the state of Texas and process funeral home requests to register a death certificate or obtain a transport permit until 5 p.m.

HDHHS issues certified copies birth certificates only to parents, legal guardians and immediate family members such as sisters, brothers, grandparents and stepparents. Qualified applicants must present a valid, official photo identification such as a driver’s license, military ID, a state, city or county photo ID, current employment photo ID or some type of officially issued photo ID. Each birth certificate costs $23.
