HDHHS To Hold Nutrition Fair

The Houston Department of Health and Human Services will sponsor a nutrition fair to celebrate March as National Nutrition Month.
The fair will between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Saturday, March 25, at Sharpstown Mall in southwest Houston.
Using the theme from the American Dietetics Association, Food & Fitness: Health for a Lifetime, registered dietitians and nutritionists will be present to discuss topics such as:
- Normal nutrition and fitness
- Pre-natal, post-natal nutrition
- Infant and child nutrition
- Breastfeeding
- Adolescent nutrition
- Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC)
- Geriatric nutrition
- Hypertension and diet
- Obesity
- Cholesterol management
- Diabetes
- Nutrition and cancer
- Food demonstration on food safety and low-fat food preparation
Other health professionals will discuss and answer questions on immunizations, lead screening, HIV and TB. Information on resources for the mother and infant, known as BabyNet, also will be available. For more information, call 713-794-9095.
