Health Department Announces Alternate Immunization Sites

The Houston Department of Health and Human Services (HDHHS) will discontinue immunization services at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 9318 Homestead, on Aug. 5 and refer those needing vaccinations to other nearby community sites.

Alternate immunization locations are the Northside Health Center, 8523 Arkansas; Kashmere Multi-Service Center, 4802 Lockwood Drive; Lyons Health Center, 5206 Lyons Ave. and the Fiesta Mart stores at 9419 Mesa Street and 10401 Jensen Drive.

Recommended childhood immunizations are hepatitis B, DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis), H. influenza type b, polio, varicella, and the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella).

Immunizations for infants, children and adults are offered for $3 at seven HDHHS health centers and the clinic at HDHHS Administration, 8000 N. Stadium Drive. However, no one will be denied for lacking the fee.

Immunizations are free at the 28 community sites throughout the city. Many sites have weekend and evening hours.
