Hip Hop For HIV Concert At Reliant Arena On July 30

July 28, 2011

Approximately 8,000 Houston teens and young adults, Hip Hop artists, HDHHS, AIDS Foundation Houston, many other community-based organizations and KBXX 97.9 FM “The Box” have been participating in an event called Hip Hop for HIV Awareness.

Houston teens and young adults received free tickets to a Hip Hop concert as a reward for testing for HIV and other sexually-transmitted diseases. The concert line-up includes Hip Hop artists Big KRIT, Brook Gang, Ace Hood, Beat King, MPS, Kirko Bangz, Romeo, GT, Treal Lee, Prince Rick and T-Wayne.

HDHHS teamed with many organizations to sponsor the testing events during the past two months as part of its fifth annual Hip Hop for HIV Awareness Campaign. The initiative kicks off each year on June 27, observed as National HIV Testing Day. The concert is scheduled for noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 30 in Reliant Arena.
