Houston Health Department observes National Health Center Week with free immunizations, four-day health fair

HOUSTON - The Houston Health Department (HHD) observes National Health Center Week (NHCW) August 8 – 12, 2022, celebrating services and contributions of public health with free immunizations and waiving administration fees for health center services for children and adults all week.

The department's four health centers will offer free immunizations to children eligible for the Texas Vaccines for Children program and adults eligible for the Adult Safety Net program.

Administration fees will be waived for all health center services this week in observance of NHCW, including dental, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, family planning, nurse home visitation, HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, Diabetes Awareness and Wellness Network (DAWN) center and more.

Health center employees will staff booths with information about many of HHD services during a four-day health fair, set for Aug. 9-12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Employees will also provide referrals to a wide variety of human services and information about preparing for emergencies.

The four health centers and their addresses are La Nueva Casa de Amigos, 1809 North Main; Northside Health Center, 8504 Schuller; Sharpstown Health Services, 6201 Bonhomme and Sunnyside Health Center, 4605 Wilmington.
