The Latino HIV Task Force, a group of health agencies and community organizations, will offer free HIV tests on June 18 as part of the annual National HIV Testing Day.
A free workshop to sign up low-income seniors in Medicare programs that help pay for prescription drugs and medical and hospital insurance is set for June 1, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center, 6402 Market Street.
A community forum sponsored by several local agencies will teach families how to manage their children’s asthma and eliminate environmental hazards such as lead, mold, carbon monoxide and pests in their homes.
The Houston Department of Health and Human Services (HDHHS), LAMIK Beauty and Franklin Beauty School will team up on March 10 to host “Status Red,” an evening to increase HIV awareness and encourage women and girls to get tested for HIV. Status Red participants will receive beauty and health tips, manicures and makeup demonstrations with an emphasis on healthier sex practices.
The Latino HIV Task Force will sponsor an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25 at the Houston Garden Center, 1500 Hermann Drive.
