A 74-year-old Houston resident has been confirmed with an arboviral infection Monday, July 22. At this time it is not known if the man was infected with West Nile virus or the virus which causes St. Louis encephalitis. Further testing is being conducted.
The Houston Department of Health and Human Services (HDHHS) announces walk-in registrations will be held at various WIC locations from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on selected Saturdays during 2002 for the Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC).

A recently released federal report which utilized mid-year figures (July through June 1999-2001) and date-of-report data led many media outlets throughout the nation to jump to erroneous conclusions about rising and falling AIDS case rates.
