Functions as an one-stop-shop to serve anyone needing assistance with completing applications for health service programs. Eligibility for Houston Health Department Health Centers can be determined on-site. Provides application completion for Harris County Financial Assistance Program, Texas Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Healthy Texas Women program.

The Financial Empowerment Center provides one-to-one, professional financial counseling to Houstonians at no cost to residents. It is staffed by professionally-trained financial counselors who will help individuals and families to better manage their finances, pay down debt, increase savings, establish and build credit, and access safe and affordable mainstream banking products.

Houston Food Bank — Client Assistance Program

The Houston Food Bank provides SNAP application assistance. SNAP helps people buy the food they need for good health. People also can buy garden seeds with SNAP benefits. SNAP food benefits are put on to the Lone Star Card and can be used just like a credit card at any store that accepts SNAP.

Comcast Lift Zones provide free hotspot internet access to help students get online, participate in distance learning, and do their homework.

The Mayor's Assistance Office functions in a customer service capacity to ensure that City of Houston services are delivered to neighborhoods. Investigates problems and quickly reports to the proper department to be solved within a reasonable period of time. Also provides support to groups involved with community development activities and works directly with civic clubs, neighborhood organizations, schools, and churches. Serves as an information and referral source.
