Health Education Courses and Programs
We offer a wide selection of free, health education courses on the topics of hypertension, overweight and obesity, and tobacco use to community members across the lifespan. Education is offered through clinic-based health, community-based Health, and health education by request.
- Health Education on-demand: COVID EDU — Health Education Services. Includes monkeypox.
- Live, Health Education Sessions: A wide selection of health education courses.
- Next G.H.E.N. Project: We are seeking health influencers to help amplify health education and strengthen our network. Through a mini-grant of up to $3,000, this project aims to connect the community with local grassroots partners, health educators and community health workers through various health-influencing activities to improve disease awareness, health literacy and health equity.
- Outreach Event & Collaborative Request: Request outreach support for community-based and civic organizations.
- Project Firstline: CDC-led infection control training collaborative designed to meet the diverse needs ot healthcare workers.
- Speakers Bureau: Request speakers, ask for information or other guidance from the Houston Health Department.

NUTRITION FOR BLOOD PRESSURE
Learn how to track blood pressure readings and delicious ways to cut salt from your meals using the DASH Diet and meal planning methods.

NUTRITION FOR WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
Learn to make healthy food choices, discover how to look for hidden fats, added sugars for successful weight management.

FITNESS EDUCATION
Learn to add healthy foods and water into your fitness routine. Discover new exercises during the hands-on cardio experience.
