A Plan for America: Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE)

An initiative to end the HIV epidemic by 2030

The Houston EHE Dashboard was created to facilitate input from people connected to and affected by HIV to address HIV planning in the Greater Houston/Harris County area.

Background

End the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America

In February 2019, there was a national announcement to End the HIV Epidemic in America. The EHE initiative aims for 75% reduction in new HIV infections by 2025 and at least 90% reduction by 2030.

Four key strategies of the Ending the HIV Epidemic Initiative include:

  • DIAGNOSE all people with HIV as early as possible after infection.
  • TREAT the infection rapidly and effectively to achieve sustained viral suppression.
  • PREVENT people at risk for HIV using potent and proven prevention interventions, including PrEP, a medication that can prevent HIV infections.
  • RESPOND rapidly to detect and respond to growing HIV clusters and prevent new HIV infections.

Houston's Dashboard

Community involvement is crucial to the EHE initiative. This dashboard was created to gain input and include more, diverse voices from the broader community to address HIV in the Greater Houston Area. The dashboard serves as a tool to measure, track, and disseminate information on progress towards achieving the EHE Initiative goals.

Mission

The mission of this dashboard is to engage the community in providing feedback on the existing 2017 Comprehensive Plan and the Houston Roadmap Plan to address the Greater Houston HIV Epidemic.

Vision

One jurisdictional plan of care for all people at risk for or living with HIV in the Greater Houston area.
