Public Health AmeriCorps

The City of Houston through the Houston Health Department has developed the Public Health AmeriCorps program serving in the Houston/Harris County Texas area that will focus on areas to access to health care and human services.

Frontlines+

FRONTLINES+ is a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration funded grant awarded to the Houston Health Department, which created a collaboration between the Houston Health Department, Houston Fire Department, Houston Recovery Center, Baylor College of Medicine, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

EHE Houston

EHE Houston: an initiative to end the HIV epidemic by 2030. The Houston EHE Dashboard was created to facilitate input from people connected to and affected by HIV to address HIV planning in the Greater Houston/Harris County area.

We work in partnership with the community to assess, plan, and implement effective strategies to reduce recidivism, increase public safety, and successfully assist and support ex-offenders in their transition in becoming productive, contributing members of the Houston community.

WICook at Home is a new self-paced class that helps you prepare WIC-approved recipes at home. Share home cooking ideas and recipes with other WIC participants. Learn from a WIC nutritionist how to make healthier food choices for you and your family.

Breathe With Pride

We want to reduce tobacco-related health disparities in the LGBTQ2IA+ communities and help implement evidence-based programs and activities focusing on the reduction of tobacco use amid the LGBTQ2IA+ population.

Laboratory Services

We serve as a regional laboratory for Texas Public Health Region 6/5 as well as a reference laboratory for area medical facilities. Our staff of dedicated personnel provides high-quality clinical and environmental laboratory support.
